Felt the need to get pure impressionism out of my system.  I figured that since Renoir's primary color palette is distinctly different from mine (he used a blue filter, and I use a yellow), that it would force me out of my comfort zone. Mission accomplished.

I saw the original of this painting online, some time back last year.  Don't know who the artist was.  I cranked up the contrast, and the downpour in the center.  Of course, there were numerous enhancements to the clouds.

As I worked on this piece, the contrast of the sky got brighter and brighter against the shadows.  So luminous, that I named the painting Sunrise.  Most folks call it "the cow painting."

The color palette in this painting was really a stretch for me, and why I took it on.  I took the liberty of doing a little editing ("housekeeping"), and added a few shrubs in the sideyard.

If you're from North Carolina, you've likely been to this historic spot in Watauga County.  I decided to leave the contrail in the painting.  Not sure why.  Those thick, gangly wires and their shadows that fall across the storefront fooled me for the better part of a day's work. Where did reality end, and shadow begin?

My best friend.

My yellow lab, George, a.k.a. "Pickle", was my best friend for 10 years.  I painted this from a photo I took of him when he as 9.  I am so glad I did. It hangs in my hallway, and I still get to see him everyday.
